Pennsylvania is the fourth largest dairy producing state in the country, and the dairy industry contributes more than $4.2 billion annually to the Commonwealth’s economy. Pennsylvania’s 4-H dairy program offers young people the opportunity to be part of this thriving segment of agriculture.
From learning about production, to understanding management to learning to evaluate dairy cattle, 4-H'ers with dairy projects have access to a wide range of learning activities which gives them a broad view of the industry and its contributions. Participation in quiz bowls, on judging teams, in clinics and workshops provides them with skills and knowledge beyond just caring for their project animals.
Teams representing Pennsylvania 4-H have been very competitive in national dairy judging and quiz bowl competitions.
