Once P has built up in the soil, how long does it take for P to decline?

Once available P levels have built up in the soil, they decline slowly after applications have stopped. Studies have shown that without additional P applications, 10 to 20 years of corn or soybean production are needed to reduce available soil P levels from 150 ppm to agronomic threshold levels of about 20 ppm.
