DAS Hosts Visitors from University of the Azores
Four visitors from The Azores, Portugal, visited Pennsylvania as part of an ongoing relationship between the University of the Azores and Penn State's DAS. They visited Pennsylvania dairy farms and learned more about the relationship of cooperative extension and the dairy industry.

The Holiday Season is one of excitement – a time for reflection. As I look back at the past year, it is clear that the Department continues to grow and “accelerate”; accelerate in a way where more is being done by faculty, students, and staff. And, what is being done is occurring at a remarkably high level that is being recognized nationally and internationally. Much of this is captured in this issue of Hoofprints.

Just what will happen when the electricity rate caps expire in 2010 and 2011? That question is the same as asking what will happen when the deregulation of generated electricity is completed. Although the details have not yet been announced by any of the major investor-owned utility companies in Pennsylvania, I believe there is sufficient information to make some educated guesses of what may happen.
