Any person who uses liquid fuels in the actual production of agricultural products is eligible for a tax refund. Over the last several years, the refunds have amounted to approximately $3 million dollars each year spread over an average of over 8,000 claims each year. This year the refund rates are:

Gasoline - $0.262 per gallon purchased between July 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004 and $0.300 per gallon purchased between January 1, 2005 and June 30, 2005

Kerosene and Diesel Fuel - $0.312 per gallon purchased between July 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004 and $0.364 per gallon purchased between January 1, 2005 and June 30, 2005

Each claim must include copies of paid receipts or a statement from the fuel dealer that shows the number of gallons purchased, purchase dates, and verification that the state taxes (on liquid fuels and fuel use) were paid. Be sure to separate receipts by date to reflect the different tax rates throughout the 2004-05 fiscal year. Also, check all statements from fuel dealers to ensure that the tax charged is shown correctly on each statement.
