This job entails responsibility for overall administration and leadership of the Dairy Alliance Program. The Associate Director will be expected to interact with all aspects of the dairy industry and provide educational leadership for the dairy industry in Pennsylvania.
The candidate is expected to interact with all levels of college administration and the appropriate state Program Leaders. It is expected that the Associate Director will effectively facilitate communications among Department Heads, Program Leaders, Regional Directors, topic teams (faculty, staff and extension educators), and dairy industry stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate a team of faculty and Extension Educators, and manage overall operations of the Dairy Alliance program and to successfully compete for funding to sustain and grow Dairy Alliance.
As a member of the state-wide dairy program, the Associate Director also will help facilitate communications and oversee collection of information for monitoring and assessing dairy extension program quality and impact. The Associate Director will be expected to develop and deliver educational programs in some area of integrated dairy management (workforce development, animal well-being, or other key dairy-related area).
Programming should be team-based, and integrate into the scope of work for the whole Dairy Alliance and Dairy Extension team. In addition, as Associate Director of Dairy Alliance, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will engage in appropriate collaborative and interdisciplinary activities within and outside the department.
Requires Master’s degree or equivalent in Animal Sciences or other dairy related field, plus two years of work-related experience in the dairy industry, and should have familiarity with organizational development and management. It is preferred that the candidate should have some demonstrated success in securing funds and documented grantsmanship experience. Candidates must possess strong leadership and communication skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, county educators, and industry clientele.
