Your calves and heifers are the future of your herd. In fact, the
average heifer first freshens at 26 months of age and is a member of
the milking herd for just 34 months. She spends about 44 percent of her
life in the heifer barn. This workshop will provide information to help
you get calves off to a great start, keep them growing, and get them in
the milking string sooner. The same workshop will be offered at all
three locations, join us at the one most convenient for you. Topics to
be covered during this session include: Calf and Heifer Health; Baby
Calf Feeding - What's New and What's Working Well; Fly Control In
Replacement Heifers; Calf and Heifer Management - I Do It Everyday;
Heifer Nutrition to Reduce Manure and Ammonia Production; and Heifer
Nutrition for the Serious Heifer Grower. Also, everyone who attends
will earn 1 Pesticide Education Credit.
Registration cost is $20/person. Further information and online registration are available at: https://estore.psu.edu/dairyalliance
