Noncredit Course Offered in Reproductive Biology of Animals

The Department of Dairy and Animal Science is offering a free, noncredit course in Reproductive Biology of Animals for those who have an interest in the subject but are not currently enrolled in a college or university program.

The objective of this course is to provide a basic background in comparative reproductive biology of animals, especially farm animals, to individuals who are not pursuing a college degree in the animal sciences.

A basic understanding of animal physiology is useful for completing the course successfully.  Subjects to be covered in the course include the following:

  • anatomy of the reproductive system of farm animals
  • endocrinology of reproduction
  • puberty
  • the estrous cycle
  • sperm production
  • fertilization
  • pregnancy
  • resumption of estrous cyclicity after delivery
