Pennsylvania Dairy Stakeholders To Award Academic Scholarships

Presidential Campaign Comes to the College of Ag Sciences

Before addressing a crowd estimated at more than 20,000 on the Old Main lawn Sunday afternoon (March 30), Illinois Sen. Barack Obama visited the College of Agricultural Sciences' dairy complex. There, he learned about dairy nutrition, milk safety and the importance of agricultural research authorized by the Farm Bill now making its way through Congress. Among those accompanying Obama were Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Bob Casey; Robert Steele, dean of the college; Terry Etherton, Distinguished Professor of Animal Nutrition and head of the Dairy and Animal Science Department; Virginia “Ginny” Ishler, manager of the dairy complex; and several students. Reproductive Specialist Joins DAS Faculty

Penn Staters Excel at Northeast Student Affiliate Meetings

Penn State captured first place in the overall University ranking at the 2008 ASAS/ADSA Northeastern Student Affiliate (NESA) meetings held February 22-24, 2008, at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA. They received the top overall honors on the basis of exceptionally strong teams in each of the competitive areas: quiz bowl, livestock judging and paper presentations. Thirty-seven teams from eight universities competed, with eight of the teams from Penn State. [Read the full article.]

Penn State's Myers Trains Wild Mustang
