As 2009 ended, dairy futures prices for 2010 moved strongly in a positive direction. Many factors contributed to this movement. Nationally, milk production is down by more than 1%.

Nutritional Conditions that May Affect Reproductive Performance of Dairy Herds

The reproductive performance of a dairy herd can be affected by three nutritional issues. There can be: 1.) an inadequate supply of nutrients (e.g. energy), 2.) an excess supply of nutrients (e.g. protein) , or 3. ) unplanned anti-nutritional dietary components (e.g. toxins, pathogens, etc.).
