The 2007 edition of the Penn State Dairy Cattle Nutrition Workshop will be held November 13-14 at the Holiday Inn in Grantville, Pennsylvania. Feed industry professionals, nutrition consultants, and veterinarians rank this training opportunity as one of the premier events in the Northeast. Speakers from across the U.S. will present lectures and workshops on a variety of timely topics including: feed efficiency, milk fat depression, energy balance, feeding high-producing cows, silage management, impacts of ethanol on grain markets, formulating rations with emphasis on carbohydrates and metabolizable protein, dry cow feeding strategies, cow comfort, essential oils, and profiles of high-profit dairies.

Faculty and staff from Penn State's Dairy and Animal Science, Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, Crop and Soil Science, and Ag Economics and Rural Sociology departments, as well as numerous Cooperative Extension personnel will assist with hands-on workshop sessions each afternoon.

In addition to our usual two-day agenda, a special opportunity to learn about feed management planning will be available on Monday, November 12. This session will focus on how feed management fits into nutrient management planning and present the process required to become a certified feed management planner.
