Financial Resources
Finding the Appropriate Financial Resources
Finding the appropriate financial resources to meet your needs is very important when starting, expanding, or making changes in a dairy business. The agricultural lender that you work with should take the time to discuss your plans and needs so they can tailor the loan or credit line to your circumstances. As a producer looking for financial assistance, you should be prepared to provide your lender historical and pro forma (future) financial documents, as well as a business plan. In addition, be prepared to answer questions the lender may have about alternative plans and risk management, since one of their tasks is to make sure that any money lent will be repaid. Both you and your lender want your business to be successful. Thus, cooperation and communication are essential.
