A total of 15 horses (12 stallions and 3 mares) have tested positive for CEM in the US.
A total of 15 horses (12 stallions and 3 mares) have tested positive for contagious equine metritis (CEM) in the United States. The states affected include the following:
- California with 1 mare
- Indiana with 3 stallions
- Illinois with 1 mare
- Kentucky with 4 stallions
- Texas with 1 stallion
- Wisconsin with 4 stallions and 1 mare
Various breeds are involved including Quarterhorse, Friesian, Paint, and American Saddlebred. Seven (7) mares have been determined as exposed. All seven mares have been identified. Three mares have tested negative and have been removed off quarantine. Four mares remain under quarantine at this time.
