Beef-Sheep Center
The Penn State Beef-Sheep Center, located on Orchard Road, houses between 300 and 500 Dorset ewes, rams, and lambs and about 200 cows, steers, and bulls. More about the Beef-Sheep Center...
Haller Farm

Dairy Barns

Deer Pens
The Penn State Deer Research Center is located in a 22 acre fenced enclosure northeast of campus off of Big Hollow Road. The current facility includes a handling facility and nine outdoor paddocks ranging in size from 0.3 to 3.5 acres. The handling facility, centrally located within the enclosure, contains 24 individual holding pens, chutes for deer restraint, an animal scale and a feed room. Horse Barns
Equine facilities include two horse barns with approximately 35 stalls, an indoor arena, a round pen, and paddocks and pastures. There is also a breeding shed and lab for semen collection and artificial insemination which are incorporated into the production program as well as teaching and research. Meats Lab
The 16,000-square-foot facility is equipped for conducting livestock slaughter and meat cutting and processing in support of meats teaching, research and extension. The Meat Lab has over 1200 square feet of refrigerated space including freezers and coolers for storage and processing of carcasses, cuts and processed meat products. Separate refrigerated and frozen storage areas are available for research projects. Equipment is available to do most types of commercial meat processing including sawing, grinding, chopping, macerating, injecting, massaging, cooking/smoking and packaging operations. Swine Center
The Swine Center maintains a herd of about 75 purebred Yorkshire sows. All sows are bred artificially using purebred Yorkshire semen purchased from two commercial suppliers. The offspring from these matings are used for teaching and research at Penn State. More about the Swine Center...
